The Naval Center for Combat & Operational Stress Control (NCCOSC) will host its annual Navy and Marine Corps Combat Operational Stress Control (COSC) Conference May 23-24 at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center. This year’s conference theme is: “Joining Forces to Strengthen Resilience.”

The conference brings together subject-matter experts and stakeholders in the naval community to share best practices, research findings and strategies for combating stress.  The conference is the only one of its kind to bring together line and medical leaders, as well as mental health experts. Attendees can expect to gain valuable tools and strategies for mitigating stress in their military communities.

“This year’s theme speaks to the military-wide effort to address the mental health issues affecting our community,” said Capt. Scott L. Johnston, Director, NCCOSC. “When we work together – experts, leaders, researchers, providers and warfighters – we’re better prepared to meet the challenge.  “The COSC Conference joins these communities and facilitates connections and information. The substantial challenges we face in treating our heroes going forward must be met with an equally substantial and coordinated effort. We hope the COSC Conference serves as a cornerstone in this effort,” said Johnston.

Featured speakers at the COSC conference include: Vice Admiral Gerald R. Beaman, Commander, U.S. Third Fleet, who will be speaking on behalf of the Navy and Sergeant Major C. A. Adams, Sergeant Major of Manpower & Reserve Affairs who will speak on behalf of the Marine Corps.

Registration is free, open to the public, and available online at http://registration3.experient-inc.com/showCOS121/Default.aspx
