On Friday Comic Con rolled out the red carpet for families with the new animated film PARANORMAN due in theatres soon. The cast joined us in Hall H for a panel including Anna Kendrick, Kodi McPhee-Smith and Chris Mintz-Plasse who was welcomed by the crowd showing “MCLOVIN!”

The BIG BANG THEORY cast also brought people crowding into Hall H with everyone holding a Big Bang Theory bag, which I was told was a treasure to be had. The cast panel had all your favorites including Jim Parsons whose seat had a flat screen so he could join his fans via satellite from New York.

I may be here doing a job but I totally geeked out when THE WALKING DEAD cast came on stage! To sweeten the deal, AMC brought along an exclusive extended clip for us to enjoy with teasers into the next season which airs in October. Those who couldn’t wait either came as a zombie, as Sheriff Rick or went to PETCO PARK to experience zombie action on their own.

To make my heart go even crazier, a few cast members from GAME OF THRONES gave fans a panel and look at their next season. Most of the cast was filming but that didn’t stop Calisse, Lady Stark, Robb Stark and the fiery Ygritte of the North! Yes, it is true that I dearly missed seeing Peter Dinklage who plays Tyrion Lannister but I hold out hope for next year!

If you haven’t had enough of the Resident Evil franchise then you’ll be happy to know that RESIDENT EVIL RETRIBUTION is back. Alice and all the gang showed up to panel as Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez and Oded Fehr answered fans questions and enjoyed their energy and humor.

The next panel was the cast of TOTAL RECALL including Collin Ferrell, Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel with Bryan Cranston cracking jokes! The next panel was LOOPER starring one of my favorite Emily Blunt, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis (who could not attend due to filming the next DIE HARD in Eastern Europe). Levitt had nothing but raves for his costar, especially Willis!

The final panel of the day was Neil Blomkamp’s next offering after DISTRICT 9 with ELYSIUM that stars his friend and DISTRIC 9 star Sharlto Copley, Matt Damon and Jodie Foster. Keep your eye out for this one!

The morning began with a bang as DJANGO UNCHAINED made its appearance with the ever-quirky Quentin Tarantino along with Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Kerry Washington, Don Johnson (but sadly without Leonardo DiCaprio who is filming). The crowd couldn’t get enough of the first looks at the film, which will be finished in a week according to Tarantino. This is going to be a film talked about for a long time with its spaghetti western motif and music as only Tarantino could see it.

The next panel is a film called END OF WATCH about police officers in a way you’ve never seen them before. The panel included David Ayers (director) along with Michael Pena who co-stars with Jake Gyllenhaal who could not attend. Finally, the panel ended with SILENT HILL 3D, a film brought to life from a popular video game.

What would Comic Con be without a few surprises as Will Ferrell and Zach Galifinakis show up to promote their film THE CAMPAIGN. These two actors were hilarious and edgy giving fans something to rave about. Along with that was another surprise as attendees got their first peek at GODZILLA.

Every year Guillermo del Torro comes to Comic Con not only to take pictures of fans in the audience but also bring his next project. This time it’s PACIFIC RIM with Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day and a cast of monsters vs. robots. This film will be out at the end of the year.

Comic Con would also not be Comic Con without a comic book hero in attendance. This year we got our first look at MAN OF STEEL and the man in the cape Henry Cavill. He speaks about wearing the cap and what is expected of him as he carries on the mantel to one of the most beloved super heroes ever.

The ultimate high of my day (and there were a few actually) was THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY with a huge cast in attendance. Director Peter Jackson, and Phillipa Boyen out did themselves this year with many cast members including Martin Freeman/Bilbo, Sir Ian McKellan/Gandolf, and Andy Serkis/Golem with many of the new characters. A surprise visitor also showed up as Elijah Wood had to come on stage and revisit his shire home. We were treated to an amazing view of what is to come with a 9-minute clip of the film. The audience was filled with so much emotion it was clearly visible that many could not be more happy to return to Middle Earth – myself included.

Then, there is Robert Downey, Jr. That is almost a sentence in itself as producer Kevin Feige and Shane Black try to talk a little about the movie before the cast arrives and are interrupted by the blaring of Luther Vandross song. At the back of Hall H a swarm of screams erupt as we soon discover Downey dancing up to the stage. Arriving on the platform he immediately asks, “I have three questions. How much do you love me? How much do I love you? Why aren’t we seeing more trailers?” The screaming and applause was deafening. Along with Don Cheadle and the return of Jon Faverau the panel was amazing.

There is no day in which the lines to get into Hall H are not overflowing with sleepovers and those that get in line before the birds (me included). For the final day of Comic Con this day was no exception.

The first offering to television lovers was the cast of FRINGE. In its final season the panel of Joshua Jackson, John Noble, Anna Torv, Lance Reddick, and Jasika Nicole got a chance to say goodbye to fans. Entering the hall, attendees were give a FRINGE fedora that, I must say, looks good on everyone (yes, myself included!). With a look into the shows past and a sneak peak at what’s to come it was an enjoyable panel. There also was a whisper on the wind of a possible film – just passing on the word!

Not to be outdone, the cast of SUPERNATURAL returns to the final day line up. With panel stars Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, Jim Beard, Misha Collins, Mark Sheppard and writer Ben Edlund no one could be disappointed. The q/a portion was fun, the clips were pretty cool and the panel ended with what has come to be a Comic Con tradition for SUPERNATURAL of out takes that are hilarious.

Every super geek in the world tried to cram themselves into Hall H for the DOCTOR WHO panel. The cast which included Matt Smith/DOCTOR WHO, Karen Gillan, and Arthur Darvill where thrilled to see many of their shows themes being worn by fans. There were Tartus’, robots, along with large foam hats given out by the BBC.

Let us not forget animation as THE CLEVELAND SHOW brought comedy to an all-new high. With an outrageous panel that included writers Rich Appel, Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry as well as Kevin Michael Richardson, Reagan Gomez, and Jamie Kennedy. There was rapping, singing, and mayhem but then again what can you expect when sharing the stage with so many funny people being led by none other than Seth MacFarlane of TED fame.

To close out Comic Con as they always do is what has been called the “sexiest cast on television” is Kurt Sutter’s creation SONS OF ANARCHY. The panel included Sutter, his life wife Katey Sagal/Gemma, Ron Perlman/Clay, Charlie Hunnam/Jaxx, Theo Rossie/Juice, Mark Boone Junior/Munson, Kim Coates/Tig, Tommy Flanagan/Chibs, Maggie Siff/Tara, Ryan Hurst/Opie, and Dayton Callie/Unser. The audience was treated to a view into next season’s drama with the club as Sutter gave away swag bags if fans could answer questions, and they weren’t easy ones either! But true viewers had the answers! The q/a session was long but filled with so much detail about the characters, the plots and the big question “will Clay ever be part of the club again” – stay tuned!

That’s it for Comic Con 2012! I’d like to thank everyone who said hello to us in line, in Hall H and said they are passing the word about We managed to gather goodies along our few days and once recovered will begin to go through it and offer it out to you – our readers.

On behalf of myself, Movie Maven and Film Brat wait until next year Comic Con-ers!!
