On DVD this week from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is a return to the dorm with the girls who have kept fans riveted with “Scream Queens: The Complete First Season.”

At the Wallace University campus is a sorority known as Kappa Kappa Tau and in 1995 one of the girls has a baby in the upstairs bathtub. Once that has set in we are jetted off to present day as the wide-eyed Grace Gardner (Skyler Samuels) shows up on the campus walkways and wants to join her mother’s sorority of Kappa Kappa Tau.

Not happy about this particular sorority is Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) who doesn’t have a fantastic relationship with sorority president Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts). Chanel can be a handful with her brash talk and nose turning behaviors. When Chanel is under suspicion by Dean Munsch of assaulting the former Kappa president, the Dean uses the episode to force Kappa to accept anyone who wants to join.

Chanel is beside herself and leans on all-American boyfriend Chad Radwell (Glen Powell). When things begin to get ugly in the Kappa house, oh say when the housemaid ends up in the kitchen fryer, Grace teams up with Peter Martinez (Diego Boneta) to discover who is responsible.

That’s not the only crazy thing happening as people begin seeing someone roaming in a red suit and they call it The Red Devil. Knowing the masked psychopath is responsible for the continuing deaths of people on campus, everyone is freaked out and security guard Denise Hemphill (Niecy Nash) is assigned.

Grace’s father Wes (Oliver Hudson) wants her away from Wallace but Gigi (Nasim Pedrad) assures him everything will be okay. In the meantime Grace finds a room of secrets in the Kappa house that speaks of a 1995 pledge who died after giving birth and the child is still alive. She also learns that Dean Munsch might have covered everything up.

If that doesn’t set her over the edge, finding a Red Devil costume in Peter’s room is the topper of her week. Chanel in the meantime is trying to get the Kappa reputation back on track and brings in a new sidekick Chanel #6 Hester (Lea Michele) to team with Chanel #3 Sadie (Billie Lourd) and Chanel #2 Sonya (Ariana Grande). Confused yet?

After more killings, Zayday (KeKe Palmer) is under the watchful eye of Security Denise as being the murderer. However Zayday has had enough of the sorority shenanigans and decides she will run for Kappa president sending Chanel into a tizzy.

But Grace isn’t going to stop until she discovers where the baby of the bathtub is leading her to one person who has the answers. The sorority is in all sorts of chaos as Chanel is arrested for murder, Zayday is being chased by the Red Devil, people are elected and stabbed all in one night.

Grace learns of another Kappa named Feather McCarthy who has a history with Dean Munsch as well but nothing is as it seems. From Scotland Yard detectives and the story Wes tells her to Chanel rubbing in a hurtful past, Grace has her hands full.

That doesn’t slow Chanel down but finding out Hester is pregnant with Chad’s child might. All of this college drama isn’t stopping The Red Devil from completing its appointed rounds. There is more shocking news when Dean Munsch has more to say about the 1995 bathtub birth.

But hey, it’s Thanksgiving and time to celebrate but a staircase and Hester get in the way of that. Chanel wants to spend the holiday at the Radwell’s and just when she thinks she has the in – she gets a taste of Radwell bullying. Defeated back to the Kappa house, the couple decide to join the others for a holiday feast but it’s more than they bargained for.

So to get perspective, The Chanels’ go Black Friday shopping! I mean what else would you do right? No good deed goes unpunished as the Red Devil heads after Chanel. Wes, Pete and Grace report their holiday platter findings only to discover Denise is now the new Chief of Police.

Chanel has about had it and decides that Dean Munsch is responsible for all the insanity happening and decides its time for her to go. But the good Dean isn’t going down that easily. Then again neither is anyone else as there is a dynamite vest, a stabbing with scissors, fashionista robbery, Tinder talk, and stiletto heels to be added to the list. These should be classes at Wallace University!

It all comes to a close with Zayday being the heroine of Kappa Kappa Tau, Chanel, Chanel #3 and Chanel #5 Libby (Abigail Breslin) finding the good life in the asylum and the truth of who is the real Red Devil.

Sororities can be a killer!

“Scream Queens: The Complete First Season” has all the ingredients to bring audiences in. There is horror, comedy, camp, fashion, twists, unexpected characters, hilarity, fun and weekly anticipation! It must be said that never knowing who is next no matter how big a star you might be was fantastic.

Roberts as Chanel completely stole the series! This is a character you love to hate because it is never clear which direction she was going in with her fashion choices, friendships or her over running mouth. Roberts made all of it look too easy and no one is going to convince me that she wasn’t having a blast doing this. I know I would be running with it.

Curtis as Dean Munsch reminds me of someone…hmmmmm… oh that’s right, an adult version of Chanel with her own sense of sarcastic flare. Perhaps because Curtis is my age I had a little too much fun watching this character give as good as she gave. She takes this role and makes her mark.

Palmer is a straight shooter as Zayday and takes Chanel on where it will hurt the most. Samuels as Gardner is the Nancy Drew of Kappa Kappa Tau along with Boneta as Peter who has a few secrets of his own. Breslin, Grande and Michele all get their shot at being a Chanel and these girls are killer as Chanel wanna-be’s – yes, pun intended.

Okay, my favorite character is Nash as Denise the security guard and let me tell you why. She is suspicious, hilarious, fabulous and fearless (even if she gets occasionally scared). Not backing down she has her eye on the prize while not stopping this character from cracking me up.

Other cast include Lucien Laviscount as Earl Grey, Nick Jonas as Boone Clemens, Chad Michael Murray as Brad Radwell, Deneen Tyler as Shondell Washington, and Jan Hoag as Ms. Bean.
