Renovations are now complete at Sycuan Casino. Initiated in December 2010, a full design overhaul has revamped every inch of the casino interior. The casino remained open to the public as Sycuan’s design and architecture teams worked in phases to renovate the casino gaming areas, create an all-new non-smoking buffet, open a new sports bar & grill restaurant and install a one-of-a-kind specialty lighting fixture in the main lobby.

Hnedak Bobo Group (HBG) and Cleo Design, both renowned in the hospitality industry, have designed, built and decorated casinos and gaming spaces in Las Vegas and across the United States. Some of the upgrades and elements they have incorporated into Sycuan Casino include bold and beautiful carpets featuring custom-designed patterns, new tile and stonework, rich wall coverings and woodwork and architectural ceilings, making the casino its own work of art.

GameDay Sports Bar & Grill
A component designed for sports fans is the brand new GameDay Sports Bar & Grill, completed in early September. The sports bar is a combined gaming and sports viewing experience with 29 multi-game, multi-denomination bar-top gaming machines offering video poker, keno and slots all in one device; 39 high definition and projection TVs round out the experience. Memorabilia on display at the sports bar include the original four Padres owners’ seats from Petco Park, a full San Diego Chicken costume, the 14-foot tall metal Louisville Slugger Padres bat from Qualcomm Stadium, a full Jimmy Johnson engine and more than 100 signed and unsigned photos and miscellaneous sports memorabilia. The menu features more casual fare, including appetizers, pizza and hardwood-smoked barbecue specialties – all in generous portions.

One-of-a-kind Lighting Feature
Also in early September, Sycuan Casino revealed its most stunning new addition: a 15-foot in diameter, specialty lighting feature hung from the atrium ceiling. Hundreds of programmable LED lights spill color and light down from the ornamental feature to a video floor below creating a spectacular audio and visual experience. The feature is believed to be the first of its kind in the world.

Paipa’s Buffet
Completed in May, Paipa’s Buffet has been relocated to the redesigned smoke-free wing. Renovations to the buffet include a new kitchen, seating to fit 320 people and more specialty food stations. Executive Chef Paul Schwab has complemented the visual upgrades by incorporating fresh, new menu items including snow crab legs, brick oven pizza, a fresh pasta station, freshly made tortillas, grilled steaks and an expansive new dessert bar. With the addition of snow crab legs and continuation of its signature slow-roasted prime rib, Sycuan has repositioned its buffet as the new “Surf & Turf Buffet.”

Other renovations to Sycuan Casino include visual upgrades to the Poker Room, Off Track Betting, Bingo Pavilion, gift shop and the restrooms.
