The California – Nevada Roundup: April 2015

San Diego – My grandson is visiting San Diego in April and we have lots of plans. The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center’s admission prices include three new live shows: Too Loud, Too Messy and Too Shocking. They are part of the Don’t Try This at Home series. Both of us will love exploring messy, noisy science and shocking experiments with toilet paper rolls, leaf blowers, ping pong ball explosions, etc. Of course, IMAX is also on the to do list while there. Logon to www.rhfleet.org for their daily calendar. The 11th. annual La Jolla Concours D’Elegance, April 10 – 12, is at the scenic Ellen Browning Scripps Park at the La Jolla Cove. It’s a world class collection of classic automobiles and motorcycles. Octane, a British automotive magazine, named it one of the top three car shows of the year. For admission prices and a schedule of events, go to www.lajollaconcours.com. Crazy science experiments and shiny old cars; what’s not for a kid to like?

El Dorado County – The 24th. annual El Dorado Wine Region Passport Event, Taste at a Higher Level, takes place April 11 & 12 and April 18 & 19. Passports are available to visit 26 wineries that include tastings, paired food, music and beautiful scenery. Specifics and ticket options can be found at www.passporteldorado.com.

‏Sacramento – The latest digital edition of the Sacramento Visitor’s Guide is now available at www.visitsacramento.com. Whether it’s farm to fork dining, the top 10 seasonal things to do or just a handy reference for the city’s attractions, activities and sightseeing, it’s a travel planning must. Published three times yearly, it is also available in print.

‏Reno – As always, lots going on. Art Walk Reno takes place on the first Thursday of the month. Craft Beer Week is held April 18 – 25, the Reno Jazz Festival celebrates its 52nd year April 23 – 26 and Chicago The Musical plays April 24 – 26. For details, go to www.visitrenotahoe.com.

‏Shameless Plug: Four Aces in Reno, a travel story and a companion website will be available soon.

‏Safe travels and enjoy the journey….
