Available on DVD from Disney and director Brian Henson from the Charles Dickens classic is THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL.

The film’s tale is being told by none other than the muppet Charles Dickens played by the Great Gonzo! The holidays are approaching and Mr. Scrooge (Michael Caine) sees no reason to celebrate. Keeping his employee Bob Cratchit played by Kermit the Frog for the holidays makes Cratchit’s wife Emily played by Miss Piggy none to happy.

It is time for the Ghost of Christmas past, present and future to make their appearance and remind Mr. Scrooge once again of the true meaning of Christmas.

FINAL WORD: THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL debuted in 1992 and has since become a classic film. Now on blu ray the film is even more amazing with its intense color and reach-out-and-touch-a-muppet feel!

Michael Caine not only plays a wonderful Scrooge but has said he considers this to be one of his most memorable roles. Who wouldn’t have a grand time being with the world’s most beloved co-stars!

Kermit and Miss Piggy get a chance to be a married couple with kids of their own and are absolutely touching together. Even when Miss Piggy gets a little upset she does it with grace and style.

Having the story be told by the Great Gonzo only adds to the endearing quality of the film with a touch that only Jim Henson’s muppets could give.

Including characters the world has come to love – Fozzie Bear, Beaker, Swedish Chef, Rat, Zoot, Rizzo the Rat, Beaker among others means that the family will definitely be having a good time enjoying a classic for the holidays.

Other cast include: Jessica Fox as the voice of Christmas Past, Robert Tygner as the voice of Christmas Future and Past, Steven Mackintosh as Fred, Meredith Braun as Belle, Robin Weaver as Clara, and Raymond Coulthard as young Scrooge.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL four tubs of popcorn out of five. This has become such a holiday classic and, as a muppet fan from way back (without giving away my age) I can’t get through Christmas without seeing it. Fans will love adding this to their holiday section of DVD’s!

The DVD extras include: a 2-disc combo pack with audio commentaries, Frogs, Pigs and Humbug: Unwrapping a Holiday Classic, a blooper reel, Christmas Around the World and PePe Profiles – Gonzos: A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Weirdo.

In the end – its not easy being Scrooge!
