‘The Wild Thornberrys: The Complete Series’

SHOUT! Factory continues to bring amazing entertainment for fans and coming to DVD is the next big get with “The Wild Thornberrys: The Complete Series.”

The Thornberry family is known to be world travelers and always looking for animals. Eliza Thornberry is touched by a shaman who gives her the ability to speak to the animals but can’t tell anyone. This gives her the unique ability to learn about how the animals live and explore exotic creatures.

Eliza learns and listens to such animals as the silverback gorillas, pythons, crested grebes, tapirs, capybaras, and antelopes. Her friend Darwin is Eliza’s best friend and a chimpanzee. Along with her family and their Communications Vehicle called the CommVee – their adventures are a family affair!

What can be said about Eliza! She is a one-of-a-kind character filled with fun, smarts, loyalty and a stubborn streak a mile wide. Voiced by Lacey Chabert, you have to love the animated characters fun loving nature. It’s such fun to watch what this fierce character is able to do and much more fun to be part of her adventures.

There Commvee is also a marvel as a fully functioning mobile home but with an upper suite. Each has a place to be but there are compartments everywhere filled with everything the family needs including an awesome sound system.

Nickelodeon is the number one brand for kids and is currently in its 36th year. Bringing quality television programming to families they have the number one rated shows for over 20 years.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give “The Wild Thornberrys: The Complete Series” four tubs of popcorn out of five. This was a non-stop marathon to watch and I couldn’t have been happier to do it. There is something to be said for watching an animated series that makes you laugh, teaches a thing or two and lets one feel like a kid.

The other characters that make me giggle are Donnie who was raised by orangutans in Borneo, older sister Debbie, Sir Nigel Archibald Thornberry KBE who is a tad different and Marianne Hunter Thornberry or The Lady Thornberry and loves scuba diving like Eliza.

There is such crisp animation here which is what makes a good animated series. If the animation is done right, paying attention to detail will bring fans back again and again to revisit favorite characters and see what happens next.

The DVD set includes over 34 hours and all 91 episodes which means there is something for everyone.

“The Wild Thornberrys” began on Nickelodeon in 1998 produced by Klasky-Csupo and had a fantastic run. Character voices also included Tim Curry and Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers. SHOUT! Factory made it more widely available for fans to add to their own home family library.

In the end — this is a family we all want to travel with because nothing says adventure like being a Thornberry!
