Coming to DVD from directors Jeremy Degruson and Ben Stassen with SHOUT! Factory comes a furry treat for animation fans with THUNDER AND THE HOUSE OF MAGIC.

This film tells the story of Thunder (voiced by Murray Blue), a youngster cat abandoned on the street by his owners. Learning that the world is a bigger place than he could have possibly imagined, he isn’t greeted well! Jumping from scare to fright, he doesn’t know what to do.

Yet he finds the mansion everyone stays away from! Once inside he quickly discovers that a magician lives within the walls, a nice man who takes Thunder in with no hesitation.

This is not a happy event for Jack (George Babbit) the rabbit and Maggie (Shanelle Gray) the mouse. They see Thunder as an intruder and set about making plans to get rid of him. Perhaps that’s why magician Lawrence (Doug Stone) finds kindred with Thunder since his own nephew is trying to ruin him.

After an accident that lands Lawrence in the hospital, it is up to Thunder and a house full of live gizmos and gadgets to protect the home they have come to love and help their magician friend at all costs!

FINAL WORD: There is absolutely nothing about this film I don’t enjoy. The animation is amazing, crisp and colorful in every way, just so vibrant. The story is endearing with the loving relationship between Lawrence and everything around him – not just animals but the friends he creates.

There is such an underlying depth of friendship and love that is totally immersed in the loyalty of Thunder. With all the characters that the film brings in it is just total fun and warmth for anyone who sees it. Obviously it is a family film but I can tell you honestly that my 29-year-old daughter and her husband saw the film and they loved it!

THUNDER AND THE HOUSE OF MAGIC is written by James Flynn, Dominic Paris and Ben Stassen who also created the original story. The original music is by Ramin Djawadi featuring the music of Selena Gomez. The 85-minute film is produced by nWave Pictures in association with Studiocanal and Aton Capital Entertainment.

SHOUT! Factory brings the best to fans offering up feature films, classic television series, animation and specials. For more of what they have to offer go to www.shoutfactory.com.

Other cast include: Sage Sommer as Izzy, Danny Mann as Dimitri, Nina Grillo as Audrey, Grant George as Daniel and Kathleen Browers as Carla.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give THUNDER AND THE HOUSE OF MAGIC four tubs of popcorn out of five. It is really great to have such animation and story come to DVD for families but its fantastic when it is an original story with brilliant imagery such as this film has. It is just so beautifully done with fun, humor, love and a little bit of magic. After all, isn’t that what makes a family special?

The DVD includes: Origins, Character Animation, The Making Of the Soundtrack, Teaser and Trailer all including as a special feature. If you want to know more about the film go to www.thunderandthehouseofmagic.com.

THUNDER AND THE HOUSE OF MAGIC won Best Animated Feature Film as this years’ 2014 San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival. I was actually a juror for this film and trust me when I say I was absolutely thrilled to hear that Thunder and his friends won this year’s award!

In the end – it’s a family quite like no other!
