ZERO DARK THIRTY – (R) Oscar winning director Kathryn Bigelow delves deep inside the history behind the hunt for Osama bin Laden and brings the story to screen. This is a very technical film that doesn’t hold back the brutality of war. Four tubs of popcorn out of five.

A HAUNTED HOUSE – (R) Marlon Wayans once again turn horror films into a horror of comedy. Its nice to be able to laugh at what scares us. This is definitely not a film for the kids as there is a lot of nudity and swearing. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

– (R) Its Los Angeles 1949 and a secret police force is determined to take down the legendary Mickey Cohen. Starring Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling. I had such high hopes for this film with its all-star cast but sadly it doesn’t deliver the hype. Two tubs of popcorn out of five.

DJANGO UNCHAINED – (R) This is my top favorite film of the year and Tarantino once again has proven why he is eccentric in the eyes of Hollywood and a success to his fans. Foxx and Waltz are a pair like no other and adding Di Caprio and Jackson brings this unlikely film closer to awards galore. Pay attention to the R rating – this is not a family film by any stretch. Four and a half tubs of popcorn out of five.

LES MISERABLES – (PG-13) Jackman, Hathaway and Crowe bring this amazing stage play to the big screen. As well as it is doing at the box office it doesn’t bring this amazing story any justice. There is a disconnect here that audiences crave from the stage production but that being said it will do. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY – (PG-13) Director Peter Jackson brings audiences back to Middle Earth after a nine-year absence! This is the beginning of Bilbo Baggin’s journey with the Dwarfs of Lonely Mountain to take back their home! Expect to see many faces such as Gandalf, Gollum and others with two more films to follow. Four tubs of popcorn out of five.

LINCOLN – (PG-13) One of the most amazing films this year as Daniel Day-Lewis portrays President Abraham Lincoln during the most crucial time in American history. This is an amazing story that is not only riveting to watch but filled with Oscar worth performances. Four tubs of popcorn out of five.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE – (PG) Crystal and Midler offer some holiday fun as grandparents who get to spend quality time with the grandkids! It’s a nice tale about the gap between generations thanks to technology. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D – (R) If you add a chainsaw they will come and since they keep making them, people will flock! It’s a slasher movie with a lot of blood and acting that isn’t award winning but it works for the audience. Three tubs of popcorn out of five.

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK – (R) Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence star as two people with their own emotional problems take on one another in the hopes that their lives will change. Also starring Robert DeNiro and Sissy Spacek, this film already has Oscar buzz written all over it. Three and a half tubs of popcorn out of five.
