“U.S. Military WAR DOGS in World War II: A History and Collector’s Guide”

This book is the first to aid collectors and historians in identifying U.S. Military World War II War Dog equipment. The many World War II-era photos of war dogs and handlers will give the reader valuable information on how the equipment was actually used. Most of the equipment shown in this book is very scarce and is pictured in full view and detail.

Robert Rosenkrans was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1956 and began collecting World War II military items in 1967 shortly after moving to southern Arizona with his parents. Growing up next to an Army post and having his father as a World War II veteran gave Robert a passion for military history. Dogs were always part of the house when he was growing up, so joining the U.S. Air Force and becoming a Law Enforcement K-9 handler seemed the thing to do for Robert. Robert was in the Air Force form 1979 through 1983. After returning home form the Air Force, Robert decided to open an army navy surplus store with his father’s help. Robert and his father successfully ran the store for eighteen years before selling it. Robert then started an online business with his wife, Maria, and has been running it for four years, dealing mainly with collectable military items. Robert has collected U.S. Military war dog items from World War II since enlisting in the Air Force, and he hopes this book will inspire other historians to get the collecting fever.
