A new streaming site hopes to impact today’s culture. It is wethestudios.lightcast.com, founded by the Hollywood industry husband and wife team of Curtis and Cara Leopardo. Below is the interview with Cara about the new site.

Elise Cooper: What are the goals with this new streaming platform?

Cara Leopardo: The goal is impact culture and to set examples that it is OK to have certain views.  For example, it is OK to be a masculine man today; it is OK to be a woman that works but also has a family. Young women do not have to make a choice, something they are facing currently. Our society is saying someone must choose between being a mom or a career woman. A great example is Chelsea Handler who is in her late forties, unmarried, and no children. She is questioning her choices because now she is too old to have children.

EC: What are you doing with content?

CL: People’s sons and daughters are wearing what they see on social media and commercials. It matters what children are seeing and they are seeing nothing but garbage. This is why we are focusing on reality TV, specifically. There are real stories of real individuals. We highlight those we think can make a real impact on culture and society. We are not doing formatted reality TV like “Big Brother.” We are doing something different, a documentary series. We find families that live unique lives and tell their stories. For example, a family out of Chicago is trying to make their daughter famous, like a Taylor Swift, but are doing it from a value driven standpoint.

EC: How has your work experiences helped?

CL: We have worked in Hollywood for a while. We realize entertainment does shape culture. I am a wife, child of G-d, and a mother of four. I worked in Hollywood for seventeen years and know that there is a progressive agenda. I started in casting over seventeen years ago: commercials, print, music videos, and reality TV.  I started my own reality TV production company, developing concepts and casting for major networks. I saw the shift while working for Budweiser, developing the Clydesdales commercials. Then it went from let’s cast someone who can sing, dance, and act to let’s cast someone based on skin color and nationality. No one wants to watch somebody because of diversity initiatives.

EC: When will these shows be put up on streaming?

CL: We are streaming now, and people can subscribe at wethestudios.lightcast.com to watch all the shows. We are also in the Apple App store, Google play store, Roku and some others.  We do not believe that these big streaming platforms like Amazon and Netflix would be interested in the type of production we are making so we have our own streaming platform.

EC: What do you want the viewers to get out of it?

CL: We are told by our audience and subscribers that they feel good after watching our content. The feedback is always very positive. Our viewers are watching fathers be good fathers, wives be good wives, and children mind their parents.

THANK YOU!
