There are always a couple of things that us ladies love to do on a regular basis; shopping for shoes, clothes, accessories and of course, getting our nails done. I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing a delightful and very lovely lady– Katie Cazorla that has a very popular show on the TV Guide Channel, called “Nail Files” which debuts for its second season on August 19 at 9pm. I found Katie’s personality to be quite refreshing and infectious which is very rare in certain Hollywood circles, especially those that interact with “A” list celebrities and have their own reality show.

But perhaps your genuineness stems from her blue collar upbringing far away from the bright lights, glitz and glamor of Hollywood by way of upstate NY. When she first moved to Los Angeles, Katie was living out of her car trying to make ends meet, but that didn’t stop her from getting her weekly mani/pedi. For 10 years she worked as an actress, standup comic and host, struggling to catch her big break… to no avail.

After struggling to save every penny she made within a few months Katie’s dream became a reality and “The Painted Nail” was opened. “The Painted Nail” quickly became a celebrity hotspot, with the paparazzi setting up camp outside her doors. In less than three weeks after opening the salon, it was booked out for the rest of the year. Within six months of opening her nail bar, Katie took over the building next door and launched a popular nail-themed party lounge. She recently expanded the salon in Hollywood to include a hair and make-up boutique and is currently opening a franchise location in Miami. Katie is also busy launching her own branded line of eco friendly nail polish as well. Katie is living up to the moniker, “The Queen of Nails.”

Katie is also very active in several non profits that offer free services to various organizations throughout LA county, yet another admirable quality about her that I found very admirable. Katie currently has two (2) shops in LA but you know I had to inquire about a possible location in San Diego… so lets keep our fingers crossed that she’ll soon bring all of your wonderfulness to us in beautiful San Diego country!

Until the next time my Veteran Fashionistas, as always, stay fashionable!!
