San Diego one of top five military communities in the U.S. for families
USAA, a leading financial services provider focused on serving the military community and their eligible family members, developed its first “Top Military Communities” list to help make it easier for active-duty families to find a home to rent or buy this moving season.
The new list identifies the top communities in the five U.S. metro areas with the greatest military active duty and dependent populations as reported by the DoD. The top five are:
• Fayeteville, NC
• Kileen, Texas
• Norfolk, VA
• San Diego, CA (Northeast Murrieta (Camp Pendleton), Mission Valley West (Miramar and Navy Region Southwest)
• Washington, D.C.

Wells Fargo donates $50,000 to North County veterans group
In honor of National Military Appreciation Month, Wells Fargo donated $50,000 to Veterans Association of North County (VANC). The donation will support the construction of their 10,000 sq.ft. resource center in Oceanside, allowing VANC to better serve North County military and veterans. The center will be located at 1617 Mission Ave. in Oceanside and will serve the more than 30 organizations that comprise the VANC. For more info or to donate, call 760-967-7254.

Blue Star Museums offers free admission to military
Military families are invited to attend more than 2,000 museums in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and America Samoa free of charge now through Labor Day. The free admission to the nation’s service members and their families is provided through a collaboration of Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts and the DoD.
Any bearer of a Geneva Convention common access card, a DD Form 1173 ID card or a DD Form 1173-1 ID card and up to five family members can participate.

Special membership prices for military @ local golf club
Proclaiming gratitude to the troops, active duty military members, their spouses and children will enjoy unlimited golfing and full social privileges at a discounted rate at the Bernardo Heights Country Club, 16066 Bernardo Heights Pkwy., San Diego, 858-487-4022. The initiation fee paid by regular members will be waived, and you will not be subject to any assessments or food and beverage minimums. Monthly dues will be discounted by 40 percent from what regular members pay.
