I like apparently 43 million other people watched the Oscars, Sunday night, March 2. But I didn’t watch the entire show, only the last hour because that’s when the awards that I’m interested in are awarded, with the exception of the Supporting Actor/Actress category which usually is awarded first. Both winners in this category were destined to win this year because they contributed Oscar worthy performances! I am extremely proud of Lupita Nyong’o, her talent and her stylist because she’s been looking impeccable on the red carpet! I also find Jared Leto super talented and quite handsome.

I have written many blogs about various red carpets but the Oscar’s red carpet is supposedly the “A” list of all red carpets during award season. However, I have to say that I wasn’t overwhelmed by what I saw. I thought a lot of dresses had an air of “familiarity” to me; but I did think that Kate Hudson looked flawless from head to toe!

I liked Anne Hathaway’s dress but a lot of fashion critics did not. Below is a link from Stylist.com that shows us some of the best or worst from Sunday’s red carpet, you be the judge:

Normally I like to watch the opening monologue but I decided to skip it and just watch it on the news but I do adore Ellen DeGeneres! She has such a “genuine” personality and that defitinately shined during the show. When she gathered everybody around to take a “selfie”, passed around Pharrell’s hat to order a pizza and then had the pizza guy pass out some slices…..that is classic Ellen! It was such a funny, genuine, priceless and YouTube moment! For all those reasons and more I’m sure we will see her again next year as the host of the Oscars!

BTW, she doesn’t own the rights to the photo even though she initiated it and it was taken with her camera……Bradley Cooper took the photo therefore he owns the photo! The photo immediately went viral and was retweeted over 2 million times. It was very cool to see “A” list celebrities act like kids and jump in the photo, just like being in high school or at the family reunion. Lupita’s little brother was too cute as he jumped in front as if he was a celebrity too?!

As much as I enjoyed Ellen as the host of the Oscars I can’t help but wonder how incredible Eddie Murphy would’ve been as the host, maybe one day he will decide to take the reigns.

Until next time my Veteran Fashionistas, as always, stay fashionable!
