WHAT: The San Diego Zoo’s annual winter celebration, Jungle Bells presented by Donkey Kong, is back and this year has some new holiday cheer! During the three-week wintery celebration, guests can experience all-new, holiday-themed animal presentations and a nightly tree lighting ceremony.

The Zoo is open until 8 p.m. for the Jungle Bells celebration, with most of the activities concentrated in the early evening (4 to 8 p.m.).

Guests can take a ride on the Twinkle Light Trolley or explore the nightly holiday-themed entertainment in the Koalafornia Boardwalk area. Special wintery treats will be available at the Zoo’s restaurants like holiday cookies, gingerbread men and hot chocolate. Happy Hour will be taking place daily at Albert’s Restaurant from 3 to 5 p.m.

As a special treat from our sponsor, every weekend throughout Jungle Bells all Zoo guests will get a chance to play the new Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze game before it launches, exclusively on Wii U, Nintendo’s next-generation home-game console.

WHEN: Dec. 13 through Jan. 5. The Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. during Jungle Bells with the exception of Dec. 24, when the Zoo closes at 5 p.m.

WHERE: The San Diego Zoo, located just north of downtown San Diego in Balboa Park.
